African penguins communicate with each other by means of their distinctive call. This penguin species is found along the coasts of Namibia and South Africa, where they live in the sea, on sandy beaches and among rocks. They can reach an age of about 30 years. Penguins cannot fly, but their narrow wings are perfectly adapted for swimming. When under water they use a kind of flying motion to travel at speeds of up to 20 kilometres per hour.
