Fossil-free transport
ARTIS encourages visitors to travel to the zoo by fossil-free means wherever possible.
ARTIS is accessible by all kinds of transport, including car, bike, bus, train and tram.
To encourage visitors to choose fossil-free options for their journey to ARTIS, there are charging stations for electric vehicles available in the car park, as well as a smart tyre pump that inflates tyres to the correct pressure. Having properly inflated tyres saves on fuel consumption, reduces particulates and lowers costs.
Water transport
Together with its partners, ARTIS is running a pilot project trialling small-scale water transport. The Culture Ferry, an electric museum boat, will leave from Amsterdam Central Station and run through the Plantage neighbourhood. An on-board museum guide will describe the various stops along the route.
